Traveling from Belize City to Placencia Village

Via Plane (the most popular method): Two local airlines, Tropic Air and Maya Island Air, offer several daily flights from Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE) to Placencia Airport (PLJ). The price is about $100 per person, one way. You can book directly online and compare prices. The flight time is approximately 35 minutes (nonstop).

Private Shuttle Van or Car Service: There are private shuttle services from Belize International Airport to Placencia. We recommend looking for services on Viator The drive takes about 2.5-3 hours. Please contact them for prices. There are other private car companies as well, which you can search for using Google.

Via Rental Car: Several car rental agencies, including Budget, are located outside Belize International Airport (BZE). The scenic drive through the mountains along the Hummingbird Highway is spectacular, so it’s best and safest to travel during daylight hours. There is a Budget office in Placencia (right outside the village). If you choose Budget, let us know, as you will need a taxi from Budget to our property (a 10-minute drive).

Via Bus: To travel to Placencia by bus (around $20), take a taxi from BZE to the Belize City Bus Terminal. From there, take a bus to Dangriga and transfer to a bus bound for Placencia. Be sure to check the schedule: Southern Bus Schedule. The bus journey is an adventure with many transfers but a budget-friendly option.

Driving Directions from Belize City Airport (BZE) to Placencia, Belize:

• Once You're in Placencia: Follow the Peninsula Road through Seine Bight, past Roberts Grove and the Airstrip, until you reach the village. Look for the water tower—this marks your arrival in the village. Continue straight and turn left at the sign for "Coconut Beach Rentals." The road is unnamed. Park in the small parking area (cul-de-sac behind Manatee Inn); you'll see signs for Coconut Beach Rentals and the driveway leading to the Coconut House. There are no house numbers in the village FYI. Our "address" is: Coconut Beach Rentals, Placencia Sidewalk, Placencia Village, Belize.
